Thanks to UK donors the UK branch of ICEJ is able to fund many projects, reaching all sectors of Israeli society.  We support the Red Carpet Centre in Tel Aviv on a monthly basis and recently Karen Beattie was able to visit and see for herself the incredible loving care given there.

I was privileged to visit this centre with Jannie & Nativia from the ICEJ Humanitarian Department. We loaded up the car with donated goods which included toiletries, clothes and hygiene items and set off to Tel Aviv.

When we arrived at the centre, we were met with a warm welcome by Anat and her team of volunteers. Anat has run this ministry for 21 years and still manages to smile & encourage all those who visit. The centre has a small salon for hair, feet & nails, a rest area, showers and a dining area. At present it is open 2 days a week and there are plans in place to open another centre in Haifa.

On the day we were there around twenty women visited. Some are for food, clothes, showers, hair washes, and pedicures. The ladies were treated with so much love & respect which they do not receive on the streets. It was heartbreaking to see what a life of drugs, prostitution, trafficking etc has done to these women and the Red Carpet Centre helps to restore a degree of dignity. Men knock for food and wait outside while a plate of hot food and a drink is brought out to them.

Anat informed me that four women who had used the centre had surrendered their lives to Yeshua and were attending discipleship courses at local congregations. This relationship & trust has taken many years to establish but you cannot but feel the love all the team have to help these broken women.

This is a part of Israel that is ‘unseen’. The poverty and degradation are such a contrast to Jerusalem and need our support and prayers. This centre is practically sharing the love of Jesus and is much needed to help restore Tel Aviv back to the God of Israel.

Blessings, Karen
