Visiting the Haifa Home for Holocaust Survivors
Date - 14.4.2025During a recent visit to Israel, we were able to visit the Haifa Home for Holocaust Survivors with Joshua and Anastaysia Gooding who oversee the prayer department for ICEJ.
It was our first visit and it was so lovely to see the outside of the building on a warm sunny day which reflected the warmth and love from within the building.
We were warmly welcomed by Yudit Setz who is the ICEJ Aid director of Holocaust projects. She showed us around the home and we were able to dine with the residents and enjoy the food that was offered to us.
The facilities they have in the home are first class and we were able to view the physiotherapy room, the art and craft room and a beautiful new addition – the beauty room. This room was completed with the help of Daniel and Gabriela Hess who had come to volunteer in the home for three months. What a wonderful facility for the residents that now they are able to have hair, nails etc done in the comfort of the Home and not have to travel outside.

Every resident is treated with love, and care and this helps give them security in their latter years. It was such a joy to see them chatting with each other, sitting in the warm sunshine and enjoying one another’s company.
We met with Renate, a delightful lady who has captured the story of her life during the holocaust through her book of poetry, which has been published. The bravery and resilience of the survivors deserve all the support that we as Christian believers can offer.

Please pray to support this project as it does fulfill the mandate for the ICEJ from Isaiah 40:1 ‘Comfort, comfort my people’.
